Reports to: Editorial and Marketing Director

Contract Dates: 52 weeks from start of contract. 35 hr/week.

Start Date: January 4, 2024 preferred.

Pay: $24 CAD/hr, paid biweekly.

Location: Sault Ste. Marie, Northern Ontario.

About the Position

Reporting to the Editorial and Marketing Director, the Marketing and Communications Associate, Northern Ontario will play an integral role in increasing the impact of the 2024 Ontario Culture Days Festival in Northern Regions.

In this role, the Marketing and Communications Associate, Northern Ontario, will support artists, arts and culture groups, and organizations hosting Ontario Culture Days (ONCD) activities and celebrations at the community level. The Marketing and Communications Associate, Northern Ontario, will also support and enhance the ONCD digital content strategy and achieve social media goals related to programs in Northern regions.

Key Tasks

Marketing

  • Support and adhere to marketing and content plans, critical paths and calendars, and track measurement across various platforms and campaigns
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create, edit, and implement written content and visual graphics for digital channels such as the website, e-newsletters, and social media.
  • Work with colleagues to build, test, and optimize CMS web pages, proactively updating them when necessary.
  • Assist in coordinating, producing, implementing, and distributing print and digital marketing materials, including signage, promotional graphics, and advertising.

Outreach & Customer Service

  • Build and maintain a relationship with Festival organizers and Festival Hubs in Northern Ontario, providing direction, resources, and troubleshooting for the upcoming Ontario Culture Days Festival
  • Provide guidance, resources, and troubleshooting for the Ontario Culture Days Festival

General:

  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.
  • Identify and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
  • Foster positive and proactive collaboration with all Ontario Culture Days staff.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education in a related field of study (completed or in-progress), or commensurate experience
  • Experience working in a similar role, related to the arts, culture and heritage sector; tourism experience is an asset
  • Experience writing and editing content, writing samples will be required
  • Experience managing and measuring social media
  • Experience in marketing, social platforms, e-newsletter campaigns, audience / community outreach, and general communications
  • A solid understanding of effective grassroots and digital marketing techniques
  • A solid understanding of Wordpress, MailChimp, Buffer and Google Ads
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is an asset
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills with a capacity for self-direction, the ability to take initiative and manage a diverse set of responsibilities.
