Exploring the Meaning of Home

#APlaceICallHomeHalton invites public participation during Ontario Culture Days

Sept 22, 2023

What does “Home” mean to you?

This question lies at the heart of #APlaceICallHomeHalton, a community art project led by media artist Faisal Anwar, taking place across the Halton Festival Hub for the duration of Ontario Culture Days. It’s an exploration of home that blends art, design, and technology, reshaping our perceptions of space and connection.

When migration and societal instability are prevalent due to factors like war, economic uncertainties, and climate change, the concept of “Home” takes on new dimensions. #APlaceICallHomeHalton invites you to share your personal interpretation of home through images, sparking a collective memory of what home truly is.

To take part in this unique interactive artwork, share an image that represents your idea of home on Instagram, tagging @aplaceicallhomeproject and using the hashtag #APlaceICallHomeHalton in your post. Or send your visuals directly through a direct message to the project’s Instagram account.

Your contribution will be added to a large-scale installation of photographs in motion, which will be projected on walls and displayed on monitors in various locations across Halton Region, shaping an evolving visual concept of what ‘Home’ is. It’s a celebration of culture, diversity, and the concept of “Home” uniting us all.
