Call for Board of Directors

Ontario Culture Days is seeking applicants to join our Board of Directors. Applicants should have an interest in fostering the public’s engagement with Ontario’s arts, culture and heritage and supporting the vibrancy, accessibility, and sustainability of our sector.

About the Position

This volunteer position will work in a collaborative environment with other Board members and Ontario Culture Days’ Executive Director to oversee the strategic direction of the organisation. The Board currently consists of nine members who have been recruited based on their skillset, experience, and connections within the artistic community. The Board is made up of professionals who offer experience in fundraising, marketing and communications, financial management, government relations, and human resources, to  contribute to our successful operations. We are looking for individuals with familiarity with Ontario Culture Days, the Ontario Culture Days Festival and the larger arts, culture, and tourism sector in Ontario.


We are seeking applicants with expertise in the arts, culture and heritage sectors, in particular:

  • Governance of not-for-profit charitable organisations
  • Marketing, Communications and Public Relations
  • Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
  • Fundraising, Partnership and Business Development
  • Human Resources and Legal
  • Event Planning and Promotion
  • Artistic Programming


Term and commitment:

The new board member is asked to commit to at least a minimum of 3 years on a volunteer basis.

Board members will dedicate an average of 10-20 hours a year to Board meetings, committees, strategic planning and assigned tasks. They are expected to attend quarterly board meetings, including annual general meetings.
